new journal theme

Finally ditched the Cranky Pessimist theme. That was only ever meant to be a placeholder when my background image disappeared last year. Somehow, I never quite got around to going back in and fixing things. I've taken care of that now. I decided to shake things up a bit, not go back to the Walking in the Woods picture. Instead, I'm using a picture of the field across the street from my brother M's house, taken this past May.

In the drop down box under Journal in your lj toolbar, click on 'journal style'. On the new page that opens up, you need to switch from style S2 to S1. Next, scroll down to the bottom, where there is an override box. I can email you the code I use, although you'll have to use your own picture, or you can play with it yourself. Once you've got your background image up, you can use the other options on the page to select layout and color options.

The cranky pessimist thing was really only supposed to be a temporary joke that somehow lasted a lot longer than I planned. I definitely prefer having my own photos as a background image, so I'm much happier in that regard now. Not entirely satisfied with the new name of the journal, but I'll give it a go for now, see how it settles in with me, since I couldn't come up with anything I liked better.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to see your photos even when I went directly to your journal instead of looking at your post on my friends page. It may have something to do with my settings. If I'm bored later (like in 3 months maybe) I may look at that.

What did you see, instead? Just a plain, yellowish background?

yellow rectangles inside green rectangles, if I remember correctly. I've since been able to see the photo and think it's lovely. Not seeing the photo happened at home last night and seeing it happened at work, so it might have been a dial-up issue.

I debated using one of the Mascot Pond pics because I have some really beautiful ones, but this is of the field across the street from brother M's house. I took it right at fence level when we were there after the baby shower.

I like the picture. It didn't go to it automatically when I clicked on comments, though. I really don't understand LJ sometimes.

When I have comments open I only get the standard boring lj format as well. I'm not sure which settings need to be changed in order to see someone's theme/style when in the comments section.

I've always gone to everyone's theme whenever I look at comments, so I was really surprised that it didn't happen this time. What I did go to is the background I see when I look at my profile, etc.
