I'm still working my through the forest of books in my living room. One thing has become abundantly clear. I need real bookshelves. I have one small shelf on my desk that is both tall and deep enough to hold my hardback and over-sized paperback books. Another thing I realized is that I've lost my copy of Physics of the Impossible by Michio Kaku. I suppose it's possible that I lent it to someone or left it at work, but I don't remember lending it to anyone, and I haven't seen it lying around at work. I hate losing books. It's got me totally distracted from the progress I was making in getting the books I do have organized. Grr!

In other news, Evgeni Malkin, head number 2 of the Penguins two-headed monster, has a torn MCL and ACL. The Pens are "discussing options" with the team doctors, but I'm guessing none of the options include him returning to the ice any time soon. So much for yesterday's prediction that he was going to break out this weekend. *sigh* Luckily, the team has been finding ways to win without their two stars in the lineup for a while now, but it's been mostly against lower-tier teams. With a game against the Capitals tomorrow, and five of the next eleven against play-off ready teams, February is going to be a test for the Pens.

In other other news, I'm looking for new music. Recommend me some, folks. I don't listen to the radio much and when I do, it's mostly 80s and 90s stuff. I'm bored with everything I have but don't know where to start looking for new.

Oh no, bad news about Malkin! Did he injure himself yesterday, or is this the old injury?

Before I recommend any music, can you tell me some that you know you like, so I have some ideas what new stuff to recommend? (Not that I'm an expert on new music, but I do keep trying to find stuff for vids, so I know a few things.)

Re: Malkin -- He had a giraffe (in other words, a gangly 6'8" hockey player) land on his knee during the game last night. He's almost certainly out the rest of the year and possibly part of next season as well.

Re: my music tastes -- it's hard to answer that, since my tastes change over time. A few years ago I was big into bands like The Fratellis and the Kooks, British pop bands. A few years before that, I was listening to a ton of baroque and renaissance type music (stuff I found on magnatunes). Right at this very moment, I'm listening to Panic at the Disco. Not very helpful, I suppose.

I am sorry to hear that the Pens have lost both their heads - in general, losing even one is bad enough. Hope they manage to build on the talents of their other players.

It's been interesting watching the Penguins fandom explode over this. Some people are responding pretty well, but others are acting like a close family member just died. It's bizarre.

The only new music that comes to mind right now is Plain White Ts.

Hope you find something you enjoy--and that you find your lost book!

Plain White Ts did Delilah, right? I really liked that song but had forgotten about them. Thanks for the reminder. :)

Yeah. They've got a new album (cd?) out too, and I plan on picking it up soon. They're really good at happy without sappy.

I am sorry you lost your book--I hate that. I lost one 30 or more years ago and it still bugs me when I think about what could have happened to it. It was about Alexander the Great but I have no idea what it was called or the author at this point. But I still remember.
Re the music--I am probably not going to be too helpful but I listen to WXPN which you could get online and they play quite a variety of stuff. I often do not know what I am hearing so wouldn't be much good even if I thought it was something you would like. I remember one time getting you a Depeche Mode (?sp) CD but that was a looong time ago!
