I was taking pictures of Zoe this morning and Mal, perhaps feeling left out, decided to strike a pose.



That's my Riverside Chaucer he's sitting on there, clearly contemplating his next literary move. Not only handsome but smart is my kitty.

Of course, the other kids are pretty photogenic, too.

Maggie the loaner cat (whom I'm failing to not get attached to):



And Zoe (currently also known as Bad Kitty!):


Here she is, a few days after Christmas, planning mischief.


Mischief accomplished, she must now face two minutes of shame in the penalty box.

I had to give a current photo of myself to the grad student organizing this year's prospective grad student interview weekend. It's a good thing we have a new nephew that we all had to be photographed with this year, or I would have had to give her a photo of my pets! (Because of course a photo of me and a couple of other highly photogenic people in pjs and flashing reindeer antlers was not going to be submitted!)

Zoe has been digesting the non-fiction section lately. Her favorites so far seem to be The Difference Engine (a book about Charles Babbage) and A Prisoner in the Garden (about Nelson Mandela).

Thanks for the compliment. It's the wonder of a digital camera. Just keep clicking away and sooner or later you're bound to have a few good pics.

Back in August one of the college students who works at Carriage House got a new roommate who is allergic to cats. A friend had been planning to take Maggie for her, but that fell through at the last minute and I received a desperation email from her, since she knew I'm a cat lover. I'm housing Maggie for her until she graduates this spring and moves back home, taking the loaner cat with her.
