There's a Penguins game this afternoon. Another game in which our superstars are missing. It's funny, but I've gotten pretty reconciled to a team without Crosby and Malkin. Do I miss what they bring to the game? Absolutely. But the game is still fun, even without them. Sure, the Pens might lose slightly more often than they win, and yes, I find that frustrating. But it's something special to watch them continue to fight and compete, no matter who's in the line-up at any given moment. It's become a guessing game. Who will they call up this time? Which Baby Pen will do something amazing? Which team regular will step up his game and shine? Who's going to make the boneheaded move (someone is guaranteed to make a boneheaded move, it's just a question of Michalek, Goligoski, Letang)? Will Cooke slaughter someone and get another suspension? Will he play too cautious and not finish his checks?

It's disappointing to think that the team that was practically glowing with Stanley Cup chances at the end of December is now just struggling to keep themselves afloat the rest of the season. It's difficult to let go of what could have been. But watching what is, is pretty darn fun, regardless of where it takes us in April.

You definitely win the "no-Stanly-Cup-but-still-half-full" award for that one, Kiddo! I hope you continue to enjoy the games and that the remaining Pens do their best to give you a good show (as well as a reasonable number of wins!)
