auntiemeesh: (sleep)

I need a recharger for my brain. Despite the fact that I've been sleeping about as well as normal, I feel like I'm going into month two or three of a massive insomnia bout. All higher brain function has shut down. Midafternoon, right after my break, someone asked me to think coherently about something. In the midst of not being able to do that, I put my ipod down somewhere and immediately forgot about it. Getting ready to go home, I tried to find said ipod. I was pretty sure I put it down on the counter in the classroom. It wasn't there. It wasn't in any of the drawers, or sitting on the counters in any of the other rooms I'd been in that afternoon. I went online and tried to do a mobileme gps search which turned up no results (apparently if it's turned off, you can't gps track it). Finally, very uncharitably, I began to suspect that perhaps someone had picked it up and walked off with it, purposefully or not. Luckily, I stopped in the office on my way out and asked if anyone had turned an ipod in. Yes, indeed. Our admin assistant had found it, thought it belonged to one of the other admin-type people, and had locked it away in the office for safekeeping. Phew. Time to put the crazed persona away and go home.

This all could have been avoided if I'd just taken the day off work. I spent a good half hour debating whether I could justify taking a day off for being really tired for no good reason, and decided that I couldn't. Possibly I decided wrong.

I actually did call off work on Monday for being tired for no reason...it didn't really help. I'm very familiar with that braindead feeling. :/

I'm glad you found your iPod. It's just as well that my work recently banned mp3 players, or I'd probably be leaving mine in random places, too.

We're only allowed to have phones/mp3 players out on our breaks. The rest of the time it's strictly forbidden (makes sense since we work with little kids and our focus needs to be on them). When I did my archives internship, I had my headphones on all the time. It was heavenly.
