My boss pinned me down yesterday and forced me to think about vacation time over the summer. I had two main reasons for putting it off. 1) I didn't know how many days I had available, our secretary blew me off when I asked her to look it up for me, and I put off asking her again because she's a bit scary sometimes. 2) I have nothing to do this summer that requires taking time off, which means just picking a random week in the middle of summer for no good reason and then planning to just sit at home and stare at the walls that week.

Anyway, it turns out that I do still have days available, so I'll be taking a proper summer vacation this year. Now I just have to figure out what to do with it.

You'd be more than welcome if you'd care to spend some time in Mississippi! Who knows, with a visitor here to inspire me, we might even be able to take a weekend trip to the coast or to New Orleans.

I have tons of time off but no cash to go anywhere with so I will likely carry over the days until next year. At this point I just plan to look at everyone else's vacation posts. : ) Some years are just like that.

Yeah, I'm kind of in the same boat. I may end up spending more than I should, or I might just have a relaxing staycation.

I might take you up on that. I've looked at the train and it seems manageable, and I'd love to spend some time with you. It would be the week of July 11-15.
