coverall creation process

I've finally made myself sit down and start the process of adapting the coverall pattern I have into the coverall pattern I need. And I decided, just for fun (and because I can't do anything without having some sort of distraction) to do a bit of live blogging as I go. This may be the most boring post ever.
Progress report:
I started with the assumption that I could alter the chest pocket to make the front of the coverall top, but upon closer inspection it looks more like a bib overall front (all one piece with the bottom) overlaid onto the coverall top front. I'm not exactly sure how I'm going to manage this, as it seems there's about three or four different layers going on in different places. These pattern pieces are going to be funky.
Update 1: The BBC wallpapers are a great resource. I can see several almost invisible seams showing how the pieces are cut and how the front forms the pockets. It's also really obvious that the chest pockets on the coverall form of the uniform are almost uselessly shallow, especially on the women's version. Not sure you could actually hold anything in them and they might not even be big enough to put your hands in, but they're there.
Update 2: The front leg pockets on my pattern are built in, but it looks like on the gangers, the pocket is just laid on top of the leg. That's going to take a little bit of experimentation to make work.
Also, I've concluded that the only way I can do the top is to have the front more overlaid than it looks like the gangers' are, but if I go too far afield from the pattern I have, I'll get lost and never find my way around such obstacles as the arms, etc. I'm already going to have to fairly drastically change the neckline.
Update 3: Okay, I have a rough pattern for how the overlay should look, and how it fits to the top. I think I'm going to mock this up before messing with the neckline.
