I got a lot of housework done yesterday and today I spent the entire day working on the mock-up of the ganger coveralls. I am a slow worker, but I have most of the top done. All it lacks is sleeves, some sort of interface or lining for the collar, and the bits that go across the shoulders at the corners. And a zipper, which the mock-up will never get. I want to get the top done this week so I can start on the bottom next weekend.

I had some dvds playing to keep me company while I worked.

Trial of a Time Lord

Much as I disliked Peri as a companion, I was still pleased to learn that she wasn't actually dead. Marrying her off to the barbarian king Yrcanos, off-screen, was a bit half-assed but it was better than the alternative.

So the Valeyard is a potential future reincarnation of the Doctor, personifying the darkness within, given actual life and attempting to kill the Doctor in order to steal all of his future regenerations. Yeah, that isn't at all twisted and confusing. And then the Master shows up to save the Doctor because the Doctor good and moralizing is bad enough, but the Doctor all evil and malicious is just far too much competition, lol.

And Geoffrey Hughes showed up! The only other role I've ever seen him play is Onslow in Keeping Up Appearances, and his character here looked/sounded/behaved nothing like Onslow, but I recognized him in about three seconds, none the less. I love seeing familiar faces on my shows.

It wasn't a great episode, but it wasn't terrible and the beach scenes, where the Doctor gets swallowed by the mud, Glitz fondles his 'foot armor,' the Valeyard shows up to be expository and hallucinogenic and then they run away from the poison gas straight into the Master's TARDIS, were all pretty hilarious.

Burn Notice, season Four

I kind of feel like there is no way this show is ever going to have a happy ending for Michael. It's just going to keep getting more and more convoluted until the writers can't keep up with it anymore and then they're going to do something terrible to it, and it will all end in tears. I should probably stop watching it, but I can't. I love Michael, because even though he sometimes takes a wrong turn and heads down dark and dangerous paths, he wants to be a good guy. And he's got Bruce Campbell on his side, so you know it's going to be an entertaining ride.

The problem with Burn Notice is that there's always at least two or three different plot layers going on, so you really have to pay attention, and my attention almost always strays away at least a few times. So I sometimes have a little trouble keeping track of everything that's going on. What Michael is doing for Vaughn, what he's doing on his own, what he's doing for some client all tend to get muddled together. Probably not the best show to watch when I'm trying to concentrate on other things, like repurposing a costume pattern.

Oh, and it was a banner weekend for Zoe. After being so cute yesterday morning with her toy, she has since chewed through the wires on my headphones, tried to eat my pins and sewing needles, and chewed through the usb cable for my camera (thank goodness my newly repaired laptop has a card reader). And now she is curled up on the sofa, sleeping the sleep of the innocent and adorable. Mal contented himself with pouncing on the sewing patterns and is also sleeping the sleep of the innocent and adorable.

And because I can't see my cats being adorable without taking their pictures, here are the pictures.

Cute. :)

I've seen three eps of Burn Notice, from season 2. Do you remember Victor?

Lol, I do remember Victor.

Yikes! Eating the sewing needles is just a little too scary for me. Given my inability to keep track of them when I'm using them, any cat of mine with such proclivities would be in B-I-G trouble.

Yeah, it makes me really anxious as well. Zoe did spend a fair amount of time locked in the bathroom yesterday but I was working on the project for a good ten to twelve hours, and I couldn't keep her locked in a small room that whole time. Someday, when I'm rich, I'll have a whole house and can dedicate a 'safe room' for crafting, lol.

You might not think so if you'd heard me shouting at Zoe yesterday, lol. I should probably get a spray bottle and spritz her every time she comes anywhere near the sewing stuff.

That is a good idea. I hope it works. Maybe you can use if with the cords too.

Congrats on the newly repaired laptop. When did Dell finally come through?

The service guy (independent contractor) came Friday morning and spent about an hour tearing the laptop apart and putting it together again. It now has a new heat sink, fan and motherboard. Should be good to go until the hard drive gives out (which it inevitably will, probably as soon as my warranty expires).

Before I read the bit about Zoe chewing up cords and chewing on needles I was going to say something about how cute the cats are when they're asleep - just like toddlers! That thought goes double now that I've read what she's been up to while awake!

Re: Trial of a Time Lord
Geoffrey Hughes is so good as Onslow it is hard to imagine him in any other role (especially any Dr Who role, since I know so little about the show). I guess that's the magic of acting, though.

It's true. Once you've seen Onslow it's hard to picture anything different for him.
