*I had an awesome run yesterday. I wanted to test my slow self a little bit, so I tried to do a ten minute mile. Did it in 9:58, then went on to finish my three miles in 31:25, my best time ever by almost a minute. Woot!

*In not entirely coincidental news, my left calf is tight and sore. I'll need to baby it for a little while so it doesn't get worse.

*The all-over itchiness is easing up, at least on the legs. My arms are still pretty bad. And now I have mystery bug bites on my legs. After some reading up, I'm concerned they may be bedbug bites.

*Again, in not entirely coincidental news, I'll be doing a thorough cleaning this weekend.

*Progress is slow on the steampunk fem Five costume, but it's still progress. The bustier is taking forever, mainly because of trying to sew the boning casings onto princess seams in something like a straight line without bunching up the outer fabric or messing up the casings. But! I've ordered my decorative vegetable, so it's all good. Thank goodness for niche Etsy shops.

Wow! Congrats on the fabulous run! My exercise experiences lately have all been of the opposite variety - slower and slower times and more exhaustion afterwards. But I'm telling myself its a reflection of my general level of exhaustion compounded by a sinus infection. So I'm hoping that by leaving behind the mental stress of work for the weekend, and (hopefully) managing an optimal level of activity/rest in whatever I do, I will be in a better state by next week.

I hope the bites on your legs are not bedbug bites, and that the whole itchiness thing is soon resolved.

Good luck with the costume. Uhmm ... decorative vegetable? As part of the costume?

The Fifth Doctor's costume always includes a stalk of celery pinned to his lapel. :)

I don't have any new bites today, but I'm still just generally itchy all over. Blech! I'm tired of this itchiness business.

Congratulations on the run, and good wishes on the end of the itching. No new bites is good news. Really, really don't want to think of you dealing with bedbugs.

Well, even though I've had no new bites, I still stripped the bed and washed everything that could fit in the washer. Five loads of laundry, because I failed to put stuff away last time and it was just sitting on the bedroom floor, half spilled out of the basket. Blech!

I'm trying to picture a cricket costume with a bustier! Do you have a sketch of the concept?

I did a write up here (http://auntiemeesh.livejournal.com/678816.html#cutid1) on the concept, what pattern I'm using and how I'm using it to evoke the feel of Five. I'm using colors and fabric patterns to emulate the combination of colors and fabric patterns in his outfit, without trying to make a cricket outfit, which was one of the big stopping points when I tried this originally.

Concept is really cool and so is [livejournal.com profile] eve11's. The only question I'm left with is: what is steampunk?

Wikipedia definition (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steampunk)

A fun video parody of "I'm On A Boat" done in Steampunk style (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOS9z31OdLA)

Although it started out as a literary style, it's become a huge costuming genre. Lots of pre-existing things and characters have also been Steampunked for costuming purposes - Darth Vader, R2D2, Daleks, etc. Then there are steampunk computers, typewriters, wheelchairs and all sorts of other things.

OK, now it all makes sense, and now your costumes seem even more brilliant! Good luck with your stitchery!
