Apr. 5th, 2012 04:24 pmI finally decided to go stand in the sun for a little while because it's too cold in here. Just as I was walking out, my landlady spotted me and asked for some assistance. The batteries in her thermostat were dead. This alone shouldn't have caused the furnace to not run, since the batteries are only supposed to operate the light up display, not the actual functioning of the thermostat.
lyda_pearl helped her do this yesterday but it didn't work. The two of us discussed, this morning, that it was maybe a loose wire or something, so I made sure to jiggle all the little wires I could find in the process of putting new batteries in. It took five tries before the display stopped saying "low battery" and started displaying what it should. And then the heat kicked on immediately. Thank goodness, as it was currently 59 degrees in here. That's just a little too cold for my modern first world preferences, I must admit.
