Early this week I applied for a job with the National Archives. It seemed like a good opportunity since it's a truly entry level position that I'm thoroughly qualified for. Well, the good thing about federal job opportunities is that they let you know where you stand pretty quickly. Turns out they're only interested in hiring veterans. I know vets get first shot but it's pretty discouraging that they're not even considering anyone else.

Well, technically, other people would be considered if very few or no veterans applied, but I think there's probably more veterans than federal jobs, so I don't suppose that will ever be the case. So much for the possibility of a nice, well-paying job with benefits. *sigh*
