All of a sudden, there are at least five stink bugs in my room, several of which are flying around very actively. WTF?!? The ones I've seen in years past have been really sluggish, not to mention I've never had more than one at a time until this sudden surge the past week here. This does not bode well for the fall.

Okay, two of are down the toilet, two have gone out to the hall, and one is scurrying hither and thither across the ceiling. I tell ya, once the temps drop enough outside, I'm sealing off all the windows with the shrink-wrap stuff and nothing is getting in. I will not put up with this nonsense all winter long.

I would definitely spray some bug-killer outside around the foundation and windows... though maybe not in the back where Shadow goes.

Stinkbugs are awful. I got so desensitized to them that I could basically just scoop them up with my bare hands and fling them down the toilet.

I had gotten pretty calm about the super sluggy ones I'm used to. They'd just sit for hours or days and never even twitch a leg. These ones I'm seeing this summer are so very active. They're much buggier. It's entirely possible I'll be sleeping on the sofa tonight.

Ick! Good luck in your battle against the bugs.

I suppose eventually I'll get used to these new, hyperactive stinkbugs and won't be any more freaked out by them than I am by moths or flies. I'll never like having a bunch of them at once, though.

Last year around this time I saw special stink bug traps or some such at the garden center. I did not buy as last year wasn't too bad here but they were rated highly.
I catch them in jars to dispose of them. Good luck--I am not convinced that sealing the windows will solve the problem. Don't the cats try to get them?

I'll definitely have to look into stinkbug traps. We also need to figure out how to seal up the apartment - the windows are all very gappy and unsealed at the moment. Sadly, the cats seem supremely uninterested in stinkbugs.

Where are your cats? Seems to me it's their job to chase and kill those things. If they aren't on it sufficiently, perhaps my kitties could come and give them a paw.

It's funny, because just a few minutes before my room was invaded by the stinkbug brigade, a moth was flying around. Zoe went into full-on assault mode, leaping into the air, chasing after it with unbelievable speed and agility. Maybe the moth satisfied her huntress quotient for the day, or maybe stinkbugs are just extremely uninteresting even when they're flitting about the room, because not a single one of the cats did more than glance casually at them a few times.
