The halloween costume is finally coming together. I have an oldish pair of grey cargo pants that I bought several years ago from Old Navy. To them I'm going to add some faux military striping on the sides. I found a nearly perfect pair of boots at DSW tonight, but they only had brown in my size. But they did have my size in black online, so I ordered them with the two day shipping in order to get them here on time. I picked up some really awesome embossed vinyl at Joann's to make a sort of fake leather girdle to wear, and I have a couple shirt options to try with the ensemble to see which works best.

I still need to come up with some kind of Victorian/Steampunk headlamp and hat, a tool belt and some steamy mining tools, and maybe a few other accessories, depending on how much time and energy I manage to put to it. I also need to get an iron, since that is an essential costuming tool and mine has ironed its last costume.

I'm finally starting to feel excited about this costume! (And I'm grateful that it doesn't actually involve a ton of sewing, for a change.)

Sounds good! I'm doubtful that I am going to make it to this party, but failing actual attendance, I look forward to photos.

I'm disappointed that you probably won't make it to the party! However, I will do my best to thoroughly photo-document the costume and occasion. :)

the costume sounds great to me but I am not familiar with what steampunk should look like. I hope you have a good time with the finishing touches and the party. When is the party?
