Yikes!

Really, really ready to be done with this week. It's parent/teacher conference week for me. Eight conferences in five days (four really, since I didn't have any yesterday). This wouldn't be so bad, except I'm hopelessly incapable of getting stuff done in advance so even though I wanted to have all the paperwork done over the weekend, I'm still sitting up till midnight every night writing up the reports to hand over to the parents the next day. Just finished the second one for tomorrow a few minutes ago.

In other news, that tetanus booster I got yesterday... Wow! My arm feels like it was kicked by a horse or something. So sore. Crossing my fingers it feels better tomorrow, so that I can actually move my arm again.

In other other news, I got home from some babysitting a little before eleven this evening. [livejournal.com profile] lyda_pearl was out so it was just Shadow and the cats to greet me, but when I walked in, I could hear a loud clicking sound coming from the kitchen. Terrifyingly enough, the stove was on, with the knob set at the position to light the gas. I have no idea how long it was on, but I can only assume that one of the cats was up there and managed to nudge the knob when they jumped down. Looks like we might need to buy some of those child proof things they have for stove dials. Pain in the butt, but infinitely better than having one of the cats set on fire or the apartment burning down.

Yikes! is right. I'm glad you arrived home in time to prevent major disaster.
I hope the arm feels better soon and the rest of the reports go quickly.

Oh my, yes, a stove dial stopper is a good thing to have. My stove is electric and my cats...well, they climb, but not on the counters. Poor Ash, D said he tried to jump up onto one of the high chairs we have in the dining room the other day and only made it half-way up. We are trying to put him on a diet but the prescription food is pretty fattening I guess :(

Poor Ash. Putting a cat on a diet is not the easiest thing in the world.

This morning he was just laying out on the middle of the kitchen floor, staring at his empty food bowl until I filled it.

I think he was doing that when we were up at your place for the party. Just staring wistfully at his empty bowl, waiting for it to magically fill up again.

Yikes! Good luck getting the stove fixed so that the kitties can't turn it on while you are at work. Especially if they aren't planning to cook you dinner while they are at it.
Hope the arm is much less sore soon!

It does seem that if they're going to be turning the stove on, the least they could do is cook some food with the resultant flame.

Holy Cow! I hope Powder doesn't ever do that. I hope you got the protector things.
Is your arm feeling better now? Only one more day and there will be a weekend. I hope you enjoy it.

We haven't got the things for the stove knobs yet - we move a little slow on most things here.

The arm is still sore, but better than it was earlier today. It's a good thing we only need those Tetanus boosters once a decade!
