Dragon Con is a go!
Aug. 29th, 2014 10:10 amYesterday was an exercise in frustration for me. I went to bed at 2:20 am and got up at 5 to start packing, with Jabe still not finished. This was a big defeat for me as I was determined to have the bulk of the sewing done before leaving the house. And then, totally sleep deprived, I had a massive headache pretty much all day. I'm also fighting off some cold/allergy symptoms, so yesterday was pretty unpleasant all around. But
eve11 is excellent company on the road and didn't seem to mind that I spent most of the drive hiding behind my hat bill, trying to sleep. Finally, around 4 I took a large dose of Advil and managed to get a good two hours of consecutive eyes-closed time and that mostly took care of the headache.
We arrived at our temporary hotel a little after seven, took the 8pm shuttle over to the Sheraton for registration and were all done by 8:20. Back to the hotel (which sadly merits the mixed reviews on its webpage but isn't too terrible anyway) and just enough time to switch out the tulle and fake flowers for a simple band of brown cotton on Miss Marple's hat. Then I went to bed with lots of work still to do, but far too tired to do any of it.
I feel much better today, thankfully. I brought some sort of over-the-counter sleep aid with me this time, which was very helpful as I was able to sleep through Eve still working on her stuff until Oh-God-it's-morning-already.
Atlanta is a lot greener than I had noticed on previous visits. The view outside our window, facing east:

We're next door to Turner Field, right on the southern edge of downtown. Our window looks out the back of the hotel and the bit of greenery right behind us looks a bit as though nature has reclaimed a parking lot or something, but apparently there's quite a bit of residental area hidden in all the trees around us.
Alright, almost time to pack up and move on to the Westin, which will be our home away from home for the next few days.
