A sniffly Geoff for Pips

Here it is, finally. My last drabble for the fic request challenge. pipspebble requested a Hetty fic in which Geoff had a fever from spying on someone in the rain and Hetty felt guilty.

Consequences

*achoo!*

“Bless you. More potatoes, Geoff?”

“No, thanks.”

*sniffle, cough*

“You’ve barely touched your dinner.”

“I’m fine. Just not very hungry.”

*achoo! sniffle*

“Go on in to the salon. I’ll bring you a cuppa.”

*cough, sniff, cough*

“Alrigh’.”

*shuffle, sigh, achoo!*

“You’re a bit warm, Geoff. Got a fever, I daresay, from going on a ‘stakeout’ in the rain without a raincoat. Drink your tea and then off to bed.”

*cough, sniffle, cough*

I don’t know what I was thinking, letting him go out without an umbrella. Next time he’ll take one whether he bloody well wants it or not.

I would suggest not putting the onomatopoeias (sp?) in asterisks. Capitalize the first one of each set and make it more like a sentence. It reads better that way, more like something professional than something found on the Internet.

Otherwise, very cute, and good voices for all, although I'm not sure that Hetty would actually swear.

You have nailed Hetty in this one! Doesn't say anything to Geoff about it being her fault and when she does think about it, she throws in that "whether he bloody well wants it or not" as if there might have been a chance he wouldn't have taken it even if she'd thought to offer it. I love it.

Thanks. Geoff and Hetty are both pretty stubborn, so it could be an interesting conversation with Hetty trying to convince a reluctant teenager to take an umbrella with him next time, lol.

Aw, you made me blush with all your high praise. I'm really glad you liked it, Pips. Now we just have to wait and see what powerwriter does with the same prompt.

Off topic, do you know anyone who's going to Dragon*con that needs a roommate? We're really trying to come up with one or two people to share a room with so we can afford to stay at the Con hotels. Apparently the only cheap alternative is a Super 8 that eve11 stayed at last year and really didn't like. Anyway, I'm rambling on, as usual. Let me know if anyone pops to mind. :)

No, do NOT do the Super 8. *shudder!* I might be able to stay but likely only for one night. The caca has hit the fan in my RL lately, which I'll go into in a separate email, but I would like to go, if only for Saturday night. More tomorrow. :-)
