Yesterday was our work holiday party. It was held at Shady Grove this year, a place I've been to all of once before. It's a nice restaurant, and they have a room upstairs that you can reserve for events, which was just the right size for our gathering.

One of my team, T, had offered to give me a ride since it would be a brisk half hour walk, or more, to get there on my own. So instead I had a leisurely twenty minute walk in the opposite direction to get to T's apartment. This twenty minutes was not quite enough to unwind from a crazy afternoon, but the glass of wine she offered once there helped. Almost the whole team was there, aside from one teacher who is dealing with a lot of personal stuff and chose to stay home. It was a really nice chance to do a little team bonding and meet a couple of significant others before the party.

The party itself was entertaining. There was an Ugly Christmas Sweater contest, which I didn't participate in due to not having the time or energy to create one. Then there was a trivia contest. Our team failed to win, but I did have the dubious honor of being the only person in the room who knew the answer to one particular question. In the category "Disney" the question: Who were the two main characters in The Rescuers? I'll leave you to ponder the answer.

It was a fun night, but I wasn't in the least disappointed to leave a little early, when another co-worker who lives in my neighborhood offered me a ride home. All of that socializing is good, but exhausting. I slept much better than usual last night.

I'm glad you had a good evening, especially some good time with your team. I hope your weekend continues the trend :)

That's how I feel about parties. Glad you had a good time!

I'm glad you had a sufficiently fun time at the party and then had a chance to get a ride home. I was disappointed not to see you in the photos posted on the Carriage House facebook page , but I assumed it was because you did not have an ugly sweater to wear for the party. Did all those people actually create their sweaters or did they have them on hand?

I was looking remarkably unattractive yesterday, in a sweater that was probably ten years old, that fit a lot better five or ten pounds ago, with uncombed hair and no make-up, all frazzled from work. I think we can all be grateful I'm not in any of the pictures.

A lot of the sweaters were created for the party. The girl in the blue Menorah sweater is T, my co-worker. Her sweater won for 'most holiday' or something like that (although the MC had a mic, it came with terrible sound quality - I could barely understand anything she said all night).

At the moment, all I *think* I recall about "The Rescuers" is that Bob Newhart did one of the voices and maybe one of the Gabor sisters did the other, and this:

"R-E-S-C-U-E, Rescue Aid Society..."

Oh, and wasn't the little girl's name Penny?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the girl's name was Penny. The only reason I could remember Bianca and Bernard's names at all, is that I had the book of Miss Bianca in the Salt Mines and loved it to death as a kid.

we're having an ugly sweater day on the 26th but I don't have anything either. The apt looks festive.

It's so hard to see the point of buying an ugly novelty sweater, and it takes a certain creative energy to make one out of odds and end lying about the house. A creative energy that I totally failed to possess this year.
