Dec. 13th, 2014 11:55 amYesterday was our work holiday party. It was held at Shady Grove this year, a place I've been to all of once before. It's a nice restaurant, and they have a room upstairs that you can reserve for events, which was just the right size for our gathering.
One of my team, T, had offered to give me a ride since it would be a brisk half hour walk, or more, to get there on my own. So instead I had a leisurely twenty minute walk in the opposite direction to get to T's apartment. This twenty minutes was not quite enough to unwind from a crazy afternoon, but the glass of wine she offered once there helped. Almost the whole team was there, aside from one teacher who is dealing with a lot of personal stuff and chose to stay home. It was a really nice chance to do a little team bonding and meet a couple of significant others before the party.
The party itself was entertaining. There was an Ugly Christmas Sweater contest, which I didn't participate in due to not having the time or energy to create one. Then there was a trivia contest. Our team failed to win, but I did have the dubious honor of being the only person in the room who knew the answer to one particular question. In the category "Disney" the question: Who were the two main characters in The Rescuers? I'll leave you to ponder the answer.
It was a fun night, but I wasn't in the least disappointed to leave a little early, when another co-worker who lives in my neighborhood offered me a ride home. All of that socializing is good, but exhausting. I slept much better than usual last night.

Date: 2014-12-13 11:19 pm (UTC)A lot of the sweaters were created for the party. The girl in the blue Menorah sweater is T, my co-worker. Her sweater won for 'most holiday' or something like that (although the MC had a mic, it came with terrible sound quality - I could barely understand anything she said all night).
