It's 68F in my apartment, which in this place usually feels very cozy. But in warm socks, thermal long john bottoms, jeans, two shirts and a hoodie, I was still shivering. I now am dressed in my warmest pjs, a huge thick sweatshirt, hat, scarf, flip-top mittens (can't find my wrist warmers) and wrapped overall in a fleecy bathrobe, with the kettle boiling to make a lovely pot of tea. For the first time in about two weeks, I'm finally starting to thaw out.

Winter storm Jonas hit earlier than expected and harder as well, so my plans for the evening went kaput. But I'd rather the people I love stay safe at home than try driving through a snowstorm just to keep me company. So instead of dinner with my sister, I stopped at Target for a microwave meal, plus enough food for the weekend (along with all the other people out doing their emergency snowstorm shopping - sadly mine was just the usual Friday "I don't want to leave the apartment over the weekend" shopping spree).

Yikes! Stay warm! We haven't gotten much snow here, maybe an inch.

The overkill method of getting warm has worked pretty well.

I have no idea how much snow is on the ground here, so far. My windows don't give me a good look at anything. But the forecast, which was at 1-3 inches for the past week, very consistently, suddenly switched back to 3-5 sometime this afternoon, with another inch or so tomorrow. Not anything like what they're getting out east, luckily, but enough to make me glad tomorrow is a Saturday so I can stay in, and not trudge the 2.4 miles to work.

where did the name Winter Storm Jonas come from? I saw someone else call it that but haven't heard it in the almost nonstop weather reports.

The weather channel, which is where I get my daily weather from (well, weather.com, which is run by the weather channel) has in the past few years, taken to naming every single snowstorm that comes along, much like they do with hurricanes.

I'm in hibernation mode too. We have about two foot of the white stuff. I'm underneath an electric blanket with two kitties fir extra warmth. My house is drafty and cold all the time. I have to put on a hoody just to go downstairs. Right now I could unload my freezer and the items would still stay frozen sitting on the kitchen counter. It's around 35 degrees downstairs. Upstairs it's around 55. Hope you stay warm. It's a great day for a nap.

Yikes! That's a truly cold home. I hope you're able to keep yourself warm until the weather improves!

Hope you are able to stay warm and adequately fed throughout the weekend. Jonas hasn't reached GC at all, so, oddly, I am feeling a little left out. However, I should be able to get Sandy out for a walk, which she desperately needs, so I will count my blessings!

We got probably about five inches here. I'm hopeful that it will all be cleared off the sidewalks by tomorrow morning, but there should still be enough for the kids to have a lot of fun during outside playtime (which it might warm up enough to let us have, for a change). Perfect combination!

Sorry you had to cancel your plans, but I'm glad you managed to stay warm. I'm hoping the roads to church aren't too bad this morning.

How much did you end up getting in NEPA?

NEPA was right on the edge, so the snow levels were alll over the place. We got a little over an inch at my apartment, my friend Jill (and Scranton) got nothing, but another woman from church got a foot. At church, there was about two inches. No wonder the forecasters were all over the place around here.
