I've had this sort of half-formed idea for a story floating around in my head for the past couple of months now. Tonight I finally sat down and started plotting it out. A little bit. Nothing even close to an actual outline, just a brief statement of where the starting point is. But I think it could be an interesting story to pursue. Now, if I could just find the time to work on it, between the costuming stuff, and the fic writing that I don't want to abandon altogether -- I have far too many bunnies floating around in my head to walk away from my multiple fandoms. I'm clearly going to have to organize and prioritize my time.

Once I get moved, I should have a lot more free time to pursue all these things. Especially as I won't be having Buffy and Angel crack fed to me on a regular basis. That stuff makes it so hard to concentrate on anything else. Luckily, I'm on season Five of Angel and then I'm all done. It will be summer and there will be nothing on tv to watch (well, at some point Stargate and Stargate: Atlantis, but as I won't have the SciFi channel, I won't be watching). My mind will be freed from it's distracting nature and I'll be free to concentrate on all of my hobbies. :D

Speaking of which, I must go watch more Angel, now.

You're no help! Lol. I'm really nearly done with Angel and it's a good thing. Season Five isn't thrilling me so far. Maybe it will pick up later, but for now, it's a little on the boring side.

Season five was ho-hum for me up through the first five episodes or so. But then I absolutely loved "The Cautionary Tale of Numero Cinco", and also "Destiny" -- they aren't until disc 2. If you've passed them and are still ho-humming, well, in my opinion it does get better. Definitely more angsty, too.

I've just started disc two, watched Life of the Party this morning. I have to admit, it was kind of funny, with Gunn marking his territory and Lorne getting his sleep removed. I'll reserve judgment until I've seen a few more episodes, I suppose. :)

I`ve tried writing original fiction but the hobbits make their way into it all the same. Sneaky little creatures, lol.

Those hobbits really are sneaky little creatures. This story idea I have grew out of a hobbit fic I wrote at least a year ago, that I think can reworked to make an interesting story if I manage to find a good twist for it. :)

Creativity is fun, in all its forms, but it takes time. One reason I started writing fanfic instead of the original novel that I've revised part one of umpteen times is because it has more immediacy (you know somebody's reading it). That makes it a bit harder to get/keep going on original fic, unless you find a supportive writer's group. Maybe something to search out in your new home?

(BTW, you're moving to New Hampshire? Why did I think it was California?)

It's too true. I spent years in high school and college working on my 'novel'. I never really got further than chapter three and no one other than a few close friends and family has ever seen any of it. I took a really long break from doing any writing at all and then started up with the fanfiction a year or so ago. Now I'm feeling like it might be time to start investing some time and creative energy into something original again.

I'm going to be in NH for a few months and then I'm moving on, where exactly I don't know yet. I was thinking about California, as I had a potential job offer which didn't pan out. Right now, I'm looking at schools still, and thinking about where I'd like to end up. I could be anywhere a year from now, lol.
