"Pippin, we need to get jobs."

"But why, Merry? We're gentlehobbits. We don't need to earn a living."

"That's true, Pip, but the poorer hobbits like to see that we aren't just living off the family names and fortunes. It makes them feel better about things."

"Oh, I see. What shall we do then, Merry?"

"Well, Meesh was saying there are openings at the daycare center where she works, if we'd like to give that a try."

"What is a 'daycare center,' Merry?"

"Well, as far as I understand it, it's where big people leave their children during the day, so they can all go off to work."

"So we'd be playing with big people children, then, Merry?"

"I think so, Pippin."

"Doesn't sound much like work, though."

"Right, shall we tell her we'll take the job, then?"

"I think so, Merry. It sounds like fun."
