Costuming plans
Aug. 23rd, 2015 12:48 pmI'm not going to Dragon Con this year, which is sad, but in order to give me something to look forward to, I decided to pick a costume to start working on for next year. Yes, I know there is no guarantee that I'll be able to go next year either, but I'm starting some costume plans anyway. I need good things to look forward to in order to survive this particular year (my life is oriented around school years rather than calendar or fiscal years) which is shaping up to be one of the hardest and least pleasant I've had in a long time.
So, what I need to be on the lookout for:
*aubergine wool/suiting fabric
*cameo brooch
*black braiding
*bracelets
*black parasol/umbrella
*possibly black boots (I may have something that will do in a pinch but I don't remember if I kept them or not)
*white cotton with aubergine striping (this may be something I have to fudge)
*little black hat
*fake fruits for little black hat
*fake phone cover
*sewing patterns for suit/shirt
There have already been a lot of people doing this costume so by next year it won't be anything like new, but I don't particularly care. New characters/costumes tend to show up too late for someone with a limited budget and time to get them done by Dragon Con that year. I need to plan far in advance.
As always, I want to lose a little weight before starting in on actual sewing, but this gives me a full year to work on that as well as gathering the materials and accessories. And, also as always, I'm prepared to have this be the costume I want to do now, and then six months from now have not started it yet and find something I'd much rather do at that time. But for now, this is my goal. And it's a good one. I've never been a Baddie before. Should be fun!
And yes, I know I'm being a bit vague. That's also part of the fun.
