I should really try to keep myself awake for another hour or so, but I took a four hour nap yesterday and then didn't sleep last night, so I'm tiiiirrrrreeeeedddddddd. And I've had a headache since Saturday and... right, enough whining. Let's talk about hockey instead.

NHL Awards were tonight. Ovechkin won about a million awards, and seemed pretty comfortable at the podium. Malkin picked up his Art Ross Trophy and haltingly declared himself to be 'so nervous.' He then proceeded to make his thank yous in the most broken English he's used in a long time, to the point of being basically incomprehensible. It was very cute. Ovechkin declared Malkin's English to be better than Datsyuk's, but this was a flat out lie.

Speaking of Datsyuk, he also won about a million awards. It was, really, the Pavel and Ovie Awards night. And, well, the Bruins racked up an impressive number of awards as well.

This was the first time I've watched the hockey awards and I found them to be mostly entertaining. I do have to say, however, that the musical performances were not to my taste. Chaka Khan and Robin Thicke failed to make me ever want to hear them, singly or together, ever again. While in large part it was much like any other awards show, with painful jokes by the announcers and long, occasionally teary (Tim Thomas of the Bruins was nearly in tears when accepting the Vizzini Vezina Trophy, his second award of the evening) acceptance speeches, there was a certain redeeming factor. And that factor was the overwhelming awkwardness of the announcers and winners. These are not all folks who've made a living speaking in front of cameras and lots of people. There was much stammering, struggling to read cue cards, so many ums and uhs it almost drowned out the actual content. it was hilariously entertaining in its awfulness.

And it's taken me nearly forty minutes to write this post because my keyboard seems to have died sometime between last night and this evening. Capitals, especially capital vowels, are taking an excessive amount of effort to achieve, and the entire top row of letters are being really stubborn about working. Not so good.
