It's snowing! Snowing with real snow (or at least heavy wet slushy stuff that looks like real snow until you touch it and see that it's just thick white water). It's done a very effective job of thoroughly covering the ground and roads, making the drive home from work a little more stressful than I was anticipating (remember I only got my license this summer - I've never driven in snow or slush or ice before). I made it safely home though and now I can sit back and enjoy the snowy show. Some reports state that we could get anywhere from 2 to 6 inches, but I'm taking heart over the fact that it's only just barely freezing and so it should all melt away as soon as it stops actually snowing. [livejournal.com profile] lyda_pearl tells me that it's a saying around here, though that if there's a snow accumulation before Halloween, then there will be snow cover by Thanksgiving, which won't melt until spring. It could be an interesting winter. *grins*

Looks like the weather you have is about the same as I do. It has been snowing a lot here today too, but then it started raining. It is still completely white out though. Too early if you ask me. It could have waited another month. :)

driving in snow, just remember to do everything a little bit more deliberately, nothing sudden or out of the ordinary... brakes are to be squeezed and not smashed [true when it's dry too]... you'll do well ;)

as for snow, I love the stuff more than any other weather... paradoxically I have to have sunlight, or I get the blues in a big bad way. That'd be why the mountain west is for me ;) snow and sun mixed well. It generally snows on holloween here... :D which is OK, cuz then you never sweat to death in a costume...

Sounds pretty -- but I am very glad that it is not yet snowing here, and that we are instead having beautiful fall weather. I echo the comment about the brakes: *don’t* slam them on while driving on snow or ice (that’s what happened with the car accident I caused when I was 16; luckily no one was hurt). Start braking sooner than you need to. And ask somebody to give you a refresher in winter driving if you feel like you need it. (On the plus side, you’re supposed to keep chocolate bars in your car for that quick energy during the winter in case you break down in the cold. Also, they don’t melt as much in the winter.)

Snow! Snow! OOoh, I hope you are enjoying it for me. Of course, once we get a little, I'll be ready for it to be warmish and dry again! Just no pleasing me...
;-)

Congrats again on your first snow-driving!
There's no snow here yet, but there has been frost the last few mornings (after highs in the 90's all last week, so it's a bit of a shock.) I've discovered that as difficult as it is to get Rudy to walk when the grass is wet, it is even more difficult to get him to walk when it is wet and frozen. Way too much scent available for him to be interested in the type of brisk forward motion that I consider definitive of a walk. It may be a long, frustrating winter. Alternatively, I may have to start taking him for his long walk in the evening rather than the morning.
