OMGYayFriday!
Jan. 9th, 2009 09:13 pmHated, loathed, despised this week. The joy I feel at its ending knows no bounds! Yay for Friday!
*clears throat*
Okay, now that that's out of my system, moving right along.
Weather is crappy, cold and snowy. This worked to my advantage.
eve11 showed up at work shortly before I was done to see if I wanted to go tv shopping (originally planned for tomorrow morning). Originally I was planning to have a nice big lump sum of extra cash later this winter to buy a tv, stand and Wii. I have a small apartment and don't need a giant tv, but I wanted to get something in the 26" range. But then Mal, not being privy to the plan, decided to destroy my tv this week. So I downsized my expectations to maybe just a 22" tv. Leave the stand and Wii until I get the money (if I get the money). Then I saw the prices. I could have got a 22" Dynex, but it was at the top of how much money I felt comfortable spending and I also wanted to get the four year Geek Squad service warranty, which would have put it over. But then I found a little 19" returned tv (no box) that was discounted. After much debate, I finally decided to go with the 19". It's small, but the price was right. And we had the guy who was helping us plug it in so we could both look it over and make sure the picture was good (it had to have been returned for a reason, after all, and post-return inspection or not, it's better to check these things).
So now I have a pretty little flat panel HD television. I, of course, do not have a cable package that includes HD channels, but that's fine. I'm not worrying too much about that. Oh, and the tv comes with a built in dvd player on the side, so I also don't have to worry about getting an upconverter dvd player (I never even heard of these things before, but apparently my regular dvd player wouldn't give me a great picture on a high def tv, and the upconverter dvd player is a whole other scam that I'm not willing to deal with right now).
All I can say now is, new tv ftw! I hope it lasts me as many years as the last one did. *knocks on wood* And now I need to figure out the best disposal method for old CRT tvs.
