I was at a seminar on veganism, with my dad. I'm not entirely sure why we thought this was a good idea, but we had some friends who were going and decided to go along. The speaker had just started his presentation - he skipped all the usual time-filling nonsense usually tacked on at the beginning of these things which I really appreciated - when there was a crash and a loud shattering sound.

I jolted up from bed to see that it was far too early to be up on a Saturday, realized the bizarre seminar was just a dream and dragged myself out of bed, looking for broken glass. Zoe was skulking around in the kitchen, looking as innocent as could be. Nothing broken there, so I staggered to the living room in a groggy daze, wondering what on earth I had out that was breakable.

After several minutes, several trips back and forth between living room and kitchen with nary a single piece of broken glass anywhere, I finally spotted my chimes lying on the carpet, all tangled together.

Relief! No broken glass to clean up. Sadly, sleep was not to be reclaimed. Something tells me it's going to be a long day.

Tonight begins the final hockey series of the 2009-2010 season. The Chicago Blackhawks and the Philadelphia Flyers have withstood every challenge that came at them and have earned the right to be the final two teams still playing. I'm hoping for some good, fast, hard-hitting hockey in the next week or two.

I wrote out a tl:dr post about how I don't know who I'm going to cheer for in this series, but deleted it because it's not true. Or at least, not relevant. At some point during the upcoming series, probably before the end of game one, I'll be cheering for one team or the other. Probably, despite all my instincts as a Penguins fan, for the Flyers (sorry, [livejournal.com profile] antbee362 . They're the underdog and I can't resist a good underdog. Plus, I grew up in the eastern part of the state and cheering for Philly teams is a pretty deeply ingrained habit. Plus plus, whether it's petty and lame or not, I want Hossa (currently with the 'Hawks) to suck it and lose.

Either way, the games will be bittersweet (since the Pens aren't playing) but fun. Puck drops a little after 8pm, eastern time. Give it a watch, you never know, it might surprise you.

I'm bringing you the Stanley Cup finals, live on your internets. This will be my attempt at live blogging with two teams I barely know and only marginally care about. As I said this morning, it's been a long day and I'm bored.

7:59 (I'm using real time rather than game time because it's just easier that way) Mike Emrick is reliving team histories. I'm not really keen on Emrick but he's what we get so he's what we'll go with. I'll do my best to add a little Mike Lange-esque flavor.

8:02 We're going to be spending the evening with Emrick, Eddie Olczyk, Pierre McGuire and Mike Milbury. Of the four, I have the most patience for Olzyck, who mostly does a little color commentary.

8:16 players coming on the ice now. Only 5 of the forty players on these two rosters have played for a Stanley Cup before.

Eta: I've just been tidying up a bit. Liveblogging can be a bit messy.
