Let the halloween preparations start
Oct. 9th, 2014 11:07 pmMy goal for this evening was to come to a final decision about my Halloween costume (theme this year is Gods and Monsters) and then figure out what I need to get for it. I had all sorts of could-be-cool-or-stupid ideas floating around, but ended up going with a sort of classic Greek Athena idea. Since I had a Joann's gift card, I bought fabric for the Chiton, some cord for the girdle, and a couple of really cute owl things to use as fasteners. It should all arrive sometime next week, and the lovely thing about chitons is that they're basically just folded fabric with a few spots fastened together at the shoulder. I fashioned an impromptu one out of a sheet in about five minutes, so it won't take too long to put the outfit together. There are a few other items I'll need to scavenge/craft, but I'll save them for tomorrow and the amazon gift card I have. This costume might end up being the cheapest thing I've ever made from items I didn't already possess. Win!
