Man, Bones broke my heart a little bit tonight, insofar as tv shows can. Let me just say I was not expecting that ending. Warning: there are spoilers in the comments.

what happened? I see non-spoilery talk on the flist and I want to know what happened! Did they actually go through with whats-his-name getting shot?

Well, he did get shot, and they played a pretty obvious little fake-out funeral in order to catch some random badguy before revealing that he wasn't really dead.

But the shocker was at the end. They've been trying to find a serial killer all season, and it turns out that one of the main characters, who's been on the show since day one, was the killer's apprentice. It seemed a little bit out of the blue, and I'm guessing the whole reveal had to be rushed a bit because of the writer's strike.
