I've been wondering what was behind the love/hate attitude Boone shows to Shannon. Now we all know. Talk about your dysfunctional family! No wonder Shannon has been so peevish since arriving on this island.

Shannon as an evil bitch is more interesting than Shannon the whiny brat, but the problem is, there is only so much room for her particular area of expertise while they are stranded on the island. I suppose that's why she's been such a whiny brat. When Boone warned Sayid away from her, I'm wondering who he's trying to protect; himself, Shannon or Sayid.

Locke is still pretty interesting. I'm sure we've all wanted to bean Boone at one point, but really, tying him up and forcing an hallucinatory experience upon him is a little on the controlling side. It seemed so obvious that it was a drug induced hallucination when Boone first heard Shannon screaming and the monster crashing down on them, but I allowed myself to be distracted and started to wonder if it was real. Abrahms and Lindeloff are evil - telling us that someone is going to die this season has really made it so much easier to suspend disbelief and believe that characters are really in danger. I like that, even if it turns out to be manipulative hogwash when we get down the end of the season.

When Shannon was lying there, dead, my thoughts were split. One thought went like this: Well, I was sort of wishing they'd kill her off, so I think this must be a good thing (tempered by the little voice reminding me that it's never good when someone dies in horrible fashion like that). The other thought went like this: But she's just started to get interesting. There could be all sorts of good stuff now that we know what a twisted bitch she is. However, I'm expecting her to continue just being a whiny brat for the most part.

I was hoping to learn something about Boone that made me like him more, but that didn't happen. I think he's a child still. He's easily manipulated by those around him, and though he often means well, none of his skills (I'm sure he has skills) are of any use to him in this situation. Which could be interesting if we saw him trying to overcome those faults, instead of just blundering haplessly along.

Charlie moment (and sadly, that's all we got this week -- a moment) --

Jack: How are you doing, Charlie?
Charlie (looking very tense): How'm I doing?! With week two of heroin withdraw? Or how am I doing with Claire being abducted by the freak who tried to kill me?
Jack (after a pause during which he looks rather abashed): I gave you the aspirin for the heroin withdrawal.
Charlie grins, breaking the tension, and walks away.

It's about time someone started cultivating food. Of course, it will take time for any of the plants to grow enough to give food, and that little plot isn't going to be enough but it's a step in the right direction and I suppose they will enlarge the plot as they get more seeds.

All in all, I liked this episode better than last week, but I think they are focusing too much on these little things, and not giving us enough of the island. I'm not much of a soap opera fan, so I'd like to see more drama, less melodrama.

I knew they wouldn't of killed off Shannon. She doesn't annoy me as much as she use to. The whole her and Sayid thing is interesting. Talk about an unlikely match!

Whoa, does Boone annoy the heck out of me! I like him sometimes, but most of the time, he just makes me want to choke him...lol. The backstory told us diddily-squot (excuse mt language :P) about him.

Such a small Charlie moment. It seems they talk about his withdrawals, but never deal with them.

The whole Boone/Shannon 'getting it on' thing was just blinding to the senses! lol.

Don't you just love it when TV shows pull out the pseudo-incestuous sex? I haven't decided yet if I like that backstory or not. It's certainly nothing new, but it does provide a different perspective to the brat-sibs.

And poor Charlie, how are we supposed to believe that he's still suffering from his heroin withdrawal when he never shows any symptoms and a couple of aspirin is all it takes to make him fine (except for the Claire thing, of course). I'm glad to see he's over that semi-comatose moping of last week, but I want to see something real with him, not just these little snippets. Grrr!

*sad* :(

So... do you think the Korean fellow speaks English?

Funny you should ask that. I thought I was the only one thinking he did, after Hurley blurted out "Your wife's hot!" and that funny little smile he gave him. I continue to love Hurley to pieces. My son just *howled* when we figured out why he was picking those leaves! Too funny!

Blasted computer just ate my comment! And now my lunch break is just about over, and I have to go back to Isengard's orc pits, but I'll try to recapture my answers later. :)

Even though Locke is one of my favorite characters, i still don't trust him. His motives are still hidden. He seems to be on the side of the island, but what side is the island protecting/supporting? Locke mentioned to Boone about not creating waves with Sayid because they will need him to be on their side later. What? Maybe the folks on the other side of the island are not wanted by the island?

Yeah, I was wondering about that myself. Locke is one of my favorites as well, but you're right. I wouldn't trust him as far as I can spit (which ain't far). I was also intriqued that he said they would need Sayid on their side later on. I like your idea that Locke is on the side of the island, although I'm not sure I totally agree. I think it's more that he understands the island better than anyone else. He seems to look upon the island the way seamen look upon the ocean. As lover and killer in one. I really want to know what he saw when the 'people eater' came at him, and what t saw in him, to not chew him up and spit him out.

I think that's what the show needs more of, that sort of island as character sense, which they've gotten away from in the last two episodes.

Norwegian TV is going to start sending Lost very soon and I am beyond excited. Anyway, i`ve not really read any Lost spoilers beacuse I never thought we`d get it here and if we did get it that it wouldn`t show in an age. So: How much Dom is there really, realistically? I don`t know if you have moved on to season 2 or something, but in the first chapters? And is it really worth it if it`s not that much Dom?

I felt cheated after it was all over. I hate that "it was all a dream" bit. Also, I thought Locke went totally out of his character by giving Boone the drug. Wasn't he the one that took away Charlie's drugs? I enjoyed the fishing scenes and the gardening bit, but the rest seemed like a waste to me. After all, most of it didn't happen! Oh, the compass part was interesting. Just where is north and why is the compass wrong. I like the action and the mystery. I want Locke to open that hatch!
