It's winter! Who knew? I woke up to maybe an inch of snow this morning and it snowed steadily all day. I got to work and found out that the parents had all been told if it continued to snow all day, the center would close at 5 instead of 6. Well, most of the parents had been told. Of course, there is always that one person that fails to see any of the notices posted prominently about the building and somehow escapes talking to any of the teachers during drop off. I called her at 3:30 and left a message on her cell phone, which she apparently had left at home. So I called her again around 5:15 and she said she was just leaving.

Another parent walked in at that moment, apologizing profusely for being late. He said it had taken him an hour to get there, from Oakland (a ten minute drive usually) which is where the other late parent was also coming from. Luckily, the other parent only took twenty minutes. I don't know exactly how that works, but I ain't complaining.

But anyway, it looked like I was going to be stuck at work until nearly six-thirty, the roads were getting very slippery, and I thought it would be a good idea to call eve11 and cancel on the gym, as she has a very long drive home afterwards. Stupid me, it never even occured to me to send her an email. I tend to not think of email as a reliable or valid means of instant communication, probably because for me it isn't. I spend maybe half an hour or less during the day on the computer and so I don't get to read emails until they are hours old. So I didn't get in touch with Eve until she'd been waiting for me a while. I hate standing people up like that. :(

Last night, along with being Lost night, was Comics night. I picked up a couple of issues of Fables and I think I'm nearly all caught up with that one, now. Maybe one or two more issues to get next week, then I'll be current. I'm still playing catch up with Y: the Last Man, and Astonishing X-Men, but soon, I think I'll be able to expand a bit more. :)

We went to Tessaro's for dinner, a place I'd never been before. It has a reputation for having the best burgers in the city but I passed on that and had a bowl of chili instead. I'm really trying to stick to this new diet and one half-pound burger would push me so far over the edge there might be no recovery. There were seven of us, including cajun's friend B, and that is probably a bigger group than I'd want to try there again, as it's a small place, but they squeezed us in somehow.

mamoulian and I reverted to the behavior of nine-year-olds, pushing and shoving each other all evening, and cajun did an excellent job of filling the filth quotient. All in all, a very fun evening.

Boring is good. Believe me, I could use some "boring" about now.

OTOH maybe not. I still have to drive one of the kiddles to class tonight and sit through the class and drive home, and I feel like I'm half asleep already.

Boring is alright once in a while. I have to be careful not to fall into 'boring all the time' however. If it's not to late for that, of course. :)

I got home okay, little traffic. Usually my email turnaround (esp. when I'm at school) is about 15 minutes tops... ;) So skipping the gym meant I had time to cook! I made Tofu Keema adding 1t cayenne and some vegetable broth as per the first review. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm yummy.

Mm, that sounds good (even with the tofu). I'm making my lentil stew this afternoon and I hope it turns out well.
