Wow, what happened to spring? It's gone all extra warm and humid. Ugh!

Despite my plans to go straight home from work last night and completely crash, I ended up going out and having fun with the guys after all. All this due to one missing bus. For some unfathomable reason, the 6:28 bus goes missing with alarming frequency, leaving all us poor schmoes sitting at the bus stop waiting endlessly, watching in frustration as bus after bus that isn't ours drives by. Yesterday, to add to the indignity, there was a really intense sun hitting us full-on.

By 6:40 I knew I'd be waiting for a while, and soon thereafter I started wondering if I'd see the guys driving by to eat at Hunan Kitchen. Sure enough, a few minutes later a car pulls up at the red light with two familiar profiles in it. At that point, I decided I might as well join them, since I was already there and all.

It was a pretty good sized group, with [livejournal.com profile] mamoulian, [livejournal.com profile] cajun, [livejournal.com profile] rabbitchild, [livejournal.com profile] jdecay and C, who is apparently holding out and refusing to go the lj route. I had the Mango Chicken. It was a lovely presentation, and tasted not too bad. It's not my favorite menu item there, but I'm trying to give my stomach a break so I opted not to get the Black Pepper Beef, which is my all-time favorite Hunan meal.

I really was tired and had trouble following the conversation for the most part, but I'm glad I met up with them, since it's going to be mid-August before I get another chance to hang out on a Wednesday evening.

I'd really like to see some SGA people coming to Dragon*Con this fall. There's already a decent line-up of SG-1 folks: Christopher Judge, Robert Picardo (whom I've loved ever since China Beach) and Michael Shanks and Lexa Doig. It would be awesome if David Hewlett came and brought 'A Dog's Breakfast' along for a screening. Sadly, I've heard no rumors to that effect. *sigh*

In other news, Spring Break is effectively over, as of today. Back to work I am, with nice long days to make up for earlier slackerness. 9-6 today through Friday. Yippee.

But. Today is Comics day and I do believe I might just be tempted to mosey on down to PotA after work. I may even buy comics. *gasp* [livejournal.com profile] eve11, if you decide to come, I've got your House dvds for you.

In other other news, we've currently got an inch of snow with ongoing flurries and the public schools just closed. I think it's a sign of the apocalypse, public schools closing for no apparent reason.

Apparently a new rule has been created whereby an person can be shenned while they are standing right there. I know it was you, [livejournal.com profile] mamoulian, so don't try to play innocent. You got tired of me waiting to forget to say 'no shens' and went ahead and shenned me anyway. :p

In other news, I didn't manage to stay up long enough to watch Lost last night. :( I got home a little after nine and was going to wait until it was done taping at ten, but ended up in bed before then. It sucks being so frickin' exhausted all the time. Oh well, delayed pleasure just means I still have it to look forward to.

Tonight I get to clean the house. Tomorrow I leave. Feelings are very mixed right now.

So. [livejournal.com profile] westwindschild just left a little while ago. She and her husband came out yesterday afternoon, stayed for the party and met many people, including [livejournal.com profile] eve11, [livejournal.com profile] uisceboo, [livejournal.com profile] mamoulian and [livejournal.com profile] apb_age, [livejournal.com profile] cajun, [livejournal.com profile] panthera_onca and his wife E, and [livejournal.com profile] pumpkinescobar.

This morning I packed up all the things I want to keep but can't take with me to New Hampshire and we loaded everything into her car. It was a little stressful, but we all got through it. I packed more than four boxes of books and somehow, the bookshelves look just as full as ever. I packed up all my sewing and crafting stuff, except for what I will need to make my costumes over the summer. I packed up all my fandom stuff. Autographs and photos, memorabilia -- everything except my action figures. They're going with me. Sadly, there is still a vast amount of stuff here, nearly all of which I will be getting rid of in the next few weeks. But it's all good, cause I was able to fit everything I wanted into my sister's car, with room left over for more, so I kept more than I thought I would. Pretty amazing, really, how much stuff will fit in the trunk of a car.

Pah-tay! )

I think I can relax a little now. Next weekend K and I are having a yardsale and anything that is left after that will go to the Veterans' Association or the trash. Then I'll be done. It should be a little easier from here on out. *crosses fingers*

It's winter! Who knew? Work talk -- PG-B (boring) )

Comics night )
auntiemeesh: (Sam)
Tonight was comics night. I branched out today, and bought the first volume of Astonishing X-Men, as well as issue 28 and 29 of Fables. That, along with the Sandman books that I borrowed from [livejournal.com profile] eve11 gives me lots of good reading to look forward to.

After dinner, we ran down to Barnes & Noble and I picked up my Farscape: Peacekeeper Wars DVD. *g*
Then, when I got home I found a package waiting for me on the porch. Pippin has finally arrived and is now happily ensconced on my desk with Merry. *bg*

Plus, I have an episode of Lost awaiting me as soon as I'm done here. *vbg*

And to top it all off, I managed to get a story written for the Lothlorien challenge before late Thursday night.

Title: Doubt
Rating: G
Summary: Sam's vision in Galadriel's Mirror haunts him.

Merry has arrived. He is exploring my desk at the moment, and apparently it's not to his liking. He says that it's worse than Isengard after the Ents had at it. Hmmm, I think it might be time to tidy it up a bit. He's a bit lonely, as well. Eowyn is here and he's quite happy about that, but he really wants Pippin. I saw the Pipster on Amazon the other day, and I may have to buy rescue him.

I just got home from the Comics night. I'm going to have to hone up on my filthy if I want to stay in the group. Last week I filthied with the best of them, but this week, I was disgustingly daycare-ish. I did have the sense, at least, to keep my mouth shut and not speak the daycare speak, but it thoroughly prevented me from being even a little bit amusing or entertaining. Luckily, [livejournal.com profile] eve11 was in good form so at least one of the girls made a good showing, lol.

Now, off to watch Lost.
