My original plan for this weekend was to crash, lazy around doing nothing but watching dvds and playing on the internet, and recover from Dragon*Con and the past week of hatefulness at work.

Well, I'm still doing plenty of playing on the internet, and I'm sure I'll watch some dvds at some point, but I am also actually getting some things done. I wandered into Squirrel Hill, had a breakfast sandwich and some coffee at the Evil Overlords Emporium (aka Starbucks) and bought groceries.

While out, I ran into two former work families. It's been probably six years since the first family had a child in my room, but the dad looked up and recognized me immediately and even remembered my name with seemingly no difficulty (this is more unusual than you might think - some parents barely recognize me if they see me out of context, even during the school year in which I'm in charge of their child).

I also saw a group of folks who must have been heading down to the Renaissance Festival, unless there is some other fancy dress thing going on this weekend. They had some lovely period clothing on and I had to remind myself that I wasn't at a costuming convention and they might not appreciate me whipping my camera out to get pics, lol.

I still have a boatload of housework to do, but I'm not feeling rushed to get much more than laundry (already well on its way) and kitty litter done.

Evil Overlords Emporium--I love it. It seems to me that it could apply to many of the retail establishments these days.
Hope you enjoyed the rest of the day.

It has, for the most part, been a very relaxed weekend. I finally got around to the dvd viewing portion this afternoon and that looks likely to keep me occupied the rest of the evening, lol.

It seems to me that most people who have gone to the trouble to create a period costume and who are dedicated enough to wear it on the street are probably going to be flattered to have someone whip out a camera and take pics. They probably also would love to go into all the details of the costume creation with someone who would appreciate the nuances of their story. Unless they are paid performers at the Ren Faire, in which case I guess they might get tired of posing for pics.

As a person who does costuming, I've found that there are times and places where, even if I have the costume on, I'd really rather not be bothered. When I'm running from one place to another, trying to take a break and eat some food, etc. These folks were heading for their car and looked a little harried. Probably not the time to bother them, lol.

You are probably correct!

I'm very impressed with your energy. I've been doing the lazy weekend in your stead (although I did manage to go to church this morning, which is an accomplishment for me these days.)

Well, I didn't actually do any housework or anything today. Mostly just played around on my computer and watched a some dvds. I did go out to a local arts and crafts fair, but I walked one circuit of the stalls and returned home. I really don't enjoy that sort of thing unless I have someone to talk to as I'm going.

Well, I still think you had a very productive day. I know what you mean about not enjoying the crafts fair as much by yourself. I think by talking things out, so if there's no one there for me to talk to, it's hard to really get into it.
