Some days my brain just totally fails me. Getting a ride home after babysitting this evening, the dad hands me my babysitting fee. I stash it somewhere and immediately put it out of my mind. Get home, put my stuff down, strip off my coat/hat/boots. Reach into my coat pocket to transfer money to my wallet. Hm. No money in my coat pocket. Maybe the other pocket? Nope. Double check both pockets. Crap! Did it fall out of my pocket when I pulled my keys out, out in the snow and slush covered street? Did it fall out in the car when I tried to put it in my pocket? I headed out into the street, in my slippers (did I mention it's about 5F out there?), to search for a small wad of cash. Nothing. Maybe I should text the dad to look in his car. No, wait. Brain flash! I put the money in my backpack. Phew! I crept back inside, put the money in my wallet, and shook my head at my idiocy.

Positives:

*I did eventually find that money.

*Steelers won the AFC Championship. Next up, the Superbowl.

*I feel mostly pretty healthy today, for the first time in a while.

*My apartment is kinda sorta clean (if you don't look in the dark corners).

*I love the new Hawaii Five-0. Tonight's episode was excellent and fun, and had an interesting little moment at the end that should lead to more excellence in future. It also provided a little brain tease for me. I caught one snatch of a familiar looking actor about fifteen minutes in, but I didn't catch the character's name, and besides, imdb doesn't have any actor information up for the episode yet. So I've spent the evening trying to beat the identity of that actor out of my brain. And eventually, I did. The actor is Joel Moore, who pops up occasionally on Bones as one of Brennan's hapless interns. Yay, brain!

Glad you're feeling better, and that you found your cash! Usually the "put it down and immediately forget where it is" syndrome is reserved for the sleep-deprived mush of a brain I've got during DragonCon, but I can definitely feel for you in that department O.o

I definitely cannot blame it on sleep deprivation. I slept something like sixteen hours yesterday. Possibly the problem is a brain meltdown due to too much sleep.

Glad you found the money eventually. I think your brain is working pretty well to remember where you recognize the actor from. Add in the Steelers winning (Yay!!!) and feeling healthy - pretty darn impressive day.

Now if only I could find some of that positivity today. I need to be more careful in future and ration my positives more wisely.

Some days the only positive is that you're still walking and breathing. Of course, living here I'm reminded that those are both positive. I should try to remember it more often.

Those good days have to happen once in a while, right? Hopefully another one will come along soon.

I'm glad your brain eventually allowed you to find the money! Hurray for the Steelers. They're going for One for the last of Minette's extras toes!

I still think of it as 'one for the thumb.' I don't know what it would be now. 'One for that other finger on the other hand, there,' doesn't have quite the same ring to it.

I quite frequently have problems like looking for the money or trying to figure out who someone is or what other thing I have seen them in. Its reassuring to me that someone you age does the same thing!
I didn't watch the end of the Steelers but was glad to know they won. I will have a hard time picking a favorite for the Super Bowl since Green Bay is an old favorite of mine too. Notice I don't have just one team I like.

I'm that way with football and baseball. I mostly just root for the Steelers these days, but I still have a fondness for the Eagles and the Bengals. And when it comes right down to it, I probably like the Phillies better than the Pirates.
