Went out and had boozy fun for the first time in two or three months. One of my co-workers is a hockey fan (she roots for the Capitals but I forgive her this minor sin since she's from D.C.) so we decided to watch some hockey. We went to Buffalo Blues, which I've never been to before, where we joined up with her boyfriend (and his friends). He's a Sabre's fan. And apparently BB shows all the games, so we would have been able to watch all three games that we had a collective vested interest in. I say apparently, because when we got there, we found out that Buffalo Blues was suffering a power outage (a bar, suffering a power outage, on a Friday = ouch!) and was going to close for the evening. So C and I deserted the group and ended up at Silky's, where at least the Capitals game was showing on one screen so C wasn't left totally hanging.

I haven't had anything to drink since the holidays so the two Screwdrivers I had have left me completely buzzed, but that's a good thing, because the Penguins got completely squashed and only the buzz is preventing me from being pretty pissed about that. Crappy game aside, I had a great time finally getting out of the house and hanging with a friend. C isn't quite the scifi geek I am, but we have remarkably similar tv tastes, so she has also watched most of the shows I like. Since her team was also being slaughtered (they were down 5-0 with three minutes left when we left the bar), it was good to have some other shared interests to focus on.

It's Friday, I'm a bit buzzed, and I've got a whole weekend ahead of me. It's a good thing.

It would be nice if it wasn't such an unusual thing to go out and have a little fun on a Friday night, but at least it happened once, right?

I'm glad you had an evening out with adult company. It's also good to know that the Caps also had a bad game, since the Pens did.

Hope the rest of the weekend goes well!

Knowing that the Caps were doing even worse than the Pens definitely took a little sting out of Pens' loss.

I guess I'll overlook this minor defect of being a Pens fan (since you're practically perfect in every other way), because as a matter of fact, seeing that the Pens made a poor showing did help soothe the sting of the Caps' 6-0 trouncing.

The rest of it has been much quieter and calmer, but restful is a good thing!

sounds like a decent evening absent the hockey results. Hope the rest of the weekend has been good for you.

The hockey results were unsurprising considering the dismal state of the Penguins' team roster at the time. The rest of the weekend has been much like every other - a little babysitting and nothing much in the way of productivity.
