Happy meme day #5

One, I just watched Doctor Who. No spoilers, but I loved it. I liked Michelle Ryan a lot more than I was expecting. Her stint on Merlin left me unimpressed with her acting skills so I wasn't too excited when I heard she was in Planet of the Dead.

Two, played online Rock Band with eve11 and her SO last night. I'm counting it in today's happy because by the time we finished it was at least technically today. And it was so much fun. At first I thought it might be weird, because I would still be here by myself playing, but we had an IM window open and between that and being able to follow their playing on the screen, it really was almost like being there. They've both been playing a lot longer than me and they mostly play the expert or hard levels, so I felt a little pathetic playing medium. But I've gotten pretty decent at medium, so I think today maybe I'll work on the hard level a bit, see if I can master that fifth fret button.

I've been having an unusual number of school anxiety dreams. ( Dreams )

I had several hours of Rock Band fun last night. Made it across the water to San Francisco and hired myself some Roadies. I'm getting a lot better on the medium difficulty level, but one or two of the hardest songs have long strings of wicked fast note streams, and I can't play them. I have no idea how to catch all the notes, so I'll be practicing that a lot over the weekend. Just for fun, I tried playing some of the easiest songs on the hard setting. Oh, what a disaster. There are five fret buttons to hit with four fingers. Suffice to say that all I managed was to randomly mash my fingers on the buttons and hit not a single note. Oh yeah, I am a rock star!

I had all sorts of plans for things I was going to do today. At least a few of them involved leaving the house and not being the laziest person on earth. Guess how well that's going?

To be fair, I am doing laundry and that's easier to do on Saturday because on Sunday, Land Lady keeps the screen door locked until late afternoon if she opens it at all, and by then I've lost all interest in the requisite going in and out and running up and down that is required to do laundry. I also tidied up a bit last night and I may do a bit more today. The apartment is in desperate need, but I'm in lazy mode, so I don't know how much will get done.

I broke out the Rock Band and set myself up to go on tour. The tour is going quite well, but I've been playing on easy so there would be absolutely no excuse for things to not be going well. Feeling a little pathetic, I went back out to Quick Play to practice the songs at medium, and learned that my fingers have all the speed and flexibility of sticks. And my ring finger locks up if I hold it down for too long, so long strings of notes cause me to become unable to let up afterwards. And when there are lots of notes played simultaneously, I start getting confused and can't figure out which fingers are supposed to be doing what when. Looks like I've got plenty of excuses to spend lots of time this weekend practicing. *g*
