Exercise happened today. Between seeing my parents recently and being reminded of what happens in the long run if you don't take care of yourself, and watching two sixty-something women kick ass at the moving this morning while I had to stand by and watch because my little t-rex arms are too wimpy for heavy lifting, I redetermined to get myself into something like decent shape. Today's efforts included:

15 fifer scissors
2 x 40 sec planks
2 mins of toe touches (just enough for my back and legs to start to feel it)
4 x 50 jumping jacks (my shoulder really protested far more than anything else)
2 x 7 lunges
2 x 15 of bicep curl, overhead press, upright rows with 5 lb weights
2 x 15 tricep chops with 3 lb weights

Now I think I really am ready to settle down and do nothing for the rest of the evening. I saw that season two of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D is on Netflix. Might be good viewing for tonight/tomorrow.

Hey, I found an issue of Shape magazine in my mailbox this afternoon. Seems someone has anonymously gifted me a magazine subscription. Thank you, whoever you are! I will use it to help find/keep motivation for continuing my weight loss and increasing my fitness.

It comes at a good time, too. Because this month has been one of no motivation and terrible diet/exercise.

Last night was the Halloween party. Not all that glitters is fun )

Today, [livejournal.com profile] lyda_pearl, [livejournal.com profile] whtmtnwmn and I took Sunny and Ben out for a nice long hike (well, it was long by my standards, although I know for Ben and his mommy it was just a short little stroll). We hiked nearly all the way up Mt. Forest, which ends in cliffs overlooking Berlin. We turned around about ten minutes short of the top because poor Sunny the Three-Legged Wonder Dog was getting a bit gimpy on her emergency backup fourth leg. It was still a good hour and a half on a steepish incline, so I'm pretty satisfied with it.

Gotta get fit )

I've started a new community.

It has nothing to do with hobbits or Farscape or Lost or comics or any of the things I usually obsess talk about. Instead, it's a health and fitness support community. I know there are lots of places like this out there already, but here's another one.

I started this mainly because my sisters and I are always talking about trying to lose weight or become more active, or whatever the goal of the day is, but it's difficult for us to actually do anything. We talk about working together, but we live in different states, so it's not really easy to do anything *together.*

Well, this is a way to be together. At this new community we can say what our goals are, what we've done each day to achieve those goals (even if it's as little as not eating that piece of chocolate you wanted after supper), offer support, advice, ideas, and reassurance to each other.

This is a very open, informal community with no rules other than to be supportive rather than abusive. If you're interested in checking it out, the community is called [livejournal.com profile] fit_for_life. :)
